Mix panel stopped tracking notification open events after handling push notification myself
I am using mix panel to send notifications to my users and I initialised the notification handling using this method
mixpanelAPI.getPeople().initPushHandling(gcmLegacyKey);
and the GCM reciever setup like this
<receiver
android:name="com.mixpanel.android.mpmetrics.GCMReceiver"
android:permission="com.google.android.c2dm.permission.SEND">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="com.google.android.c2dm.intent.REGISTRATION" />
<category android:name="com.abc.efg" />
</intent-filter>
</receiver>
then I enabled app open event tracking
<meta-data
android:name="com.mixpanel.android.MPConfig.DisableAppOpenEvent"
android:value="false" /
But recently I noticed that some of my active users didn't have Android Device tokens, so I switched to using this method to initialize the push notification, passing the firebase token to the mix panel api
mixpanelAPI.getPeople().setPushRegistrationId(FirebaseInstanceId.getInstance().getToken());
But after initialising the SDK like this, it stopped indicating if a user has opened a notification.
Please how do I overcome this.
