Change device info in Android x86 running as a Virtual Machine

0

I have installed Android x86 as a virtual machine using KVM and VMware. I tried to changed the device info like device name and manufacturer using the following methods:

  1. Edited /system/build.prop file

  2. Used command settings put global device_name <device_name>

  3. Used sqlite3 to modify a table in /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db file

But when I check in settings > About phone, there is no change. It just shows the default values like Manufacturer: VMware, Inc. ,Device: VMware Virtual Platfrom. I have tried with Android x86 8.1 and 5.1 in both the virtualization platforms.

How to change the device info in Android x86?
