OKTA: i need how to start SSO from IDP?

I have a doubt, how do I start the SSO function in my PHP project?

if our client accesses my PHP site, they have to directly login into our site using OKTA SAML 2.0.
anyone guide me. how do I get the user details from the client side(IDP)?.
the service provider(SP) using for what?.
should my client pass the user id or email in API? if yes, tell what is that API? and where I get that API. if no, then tell me how to get the user details?
