roleId data type missmatch Role and RoleMapping

I am confused with this,

roleId is number

To my knowledge, principalId is the ID of the user from the user's model.
And roleId is the role ID from the Role's model. If so then why is it like this in Role model

roleId is string

To Clarify: In Role model the ID is a string and in RoleMApping the ID is a number. I tried to override the data type in RoleMApping but it didnt work.
