I am trying to get Data Validation on scanned barcodes.
Using an APP on my android phone the scanned barcode gets transferred to an excel file. I want to prevent scanning a barcode twice.
I am using data validation
=COUNTIF($A$1:$A$20;A1)=1
This works fine when I enter the data manually but not when the data gets transferred from my phone to excel.
Is there any other solution to do this validation so that one gets an error message when a barcode is scanned twice?

An alternative solution is to use the Excel function to remove duplicates from the list when you open the file with VBA in workbook open

That's not really a solution here as we want to use it as a ticketing service. each ticket gets scanned and if someone wants to enter with a barcode which is already scanned we should get a warning.

But that means you need to send the error back to the phone that scanned the barcode. I don't think you will be able to do that.

I believe a website could give you said feature. Just an input field that you scan the barcodes to and a smal code that removes the barcode from the list when it's scanned. If a wrong/duplicate is scanned you could create an error message. But using Excel it probably not the solution to your problem.

So it's only one man job to do the scanning? In that case you can use on sheet change.
