Consul publishes registered service address and port as nothing

0

I have a node server that registers its address to Consul. Both are running in docker containers.

consul.deregister();

const registration = address: CONSUL_HOST ;

console.log(registration);
//logs correct host and port from within its container

setInterval(() =>
consul.register(registration),
30000);

consul then registers the service. Below is a response from within the consul container for the node service.

[

"ID": "<-- id -->",
"Node": "consul",
"Address": "127.0.0.1",
"Datacenter": "dc1",
"TaggedAddresses":
"lan": "127.0.0.1",
"wan": "127.0.0.1"
,
"NodeMeta":
"consul-network-segment": ""
,
"ServiceID": "my_portal",
"ServiceName": "my_portal",
"ServiceTags": ,
"ServiceAddress": "", ## <--- ?
"ServiceMeta": ,
"ServicePort": 0, ## <--- ?
"ServiceEnableTagOverride": false,
"CreateIndex": 12,
"ModifyIndex": 12

]

Note that I have a few other services on the same machine in containers, though not node apps, that have successfully registered their addresses. I'm not sure what's the best way to debug this. The application clearly gets the correct vars from the docker-compose. Any help trying to debug this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
