AWS: Pipeline for AMI creation and update
I want to create some form of pipeline that:
- takes a base ami (specifically
Ubuntu 18.04) - spins up an instance using this ami
- provisions it, partially with some parts that can be done via
user-dataand partially with other more elaborate custom configuration, i.e. some additional certifications installation etc etc) - saves the new ami from the above instance
in theory, this could be an one-off process, but given that the base ami (Ubuntu 18.04) will be periodically updated from Canonical, I expect to do so for my personal ami too.
What is the best / recommended tool / pattern for the above process? (besides ansible - if any)
