smtplib closes connection without sending text message
I have the code below that I’m using to try to send a text message to a metropcs number. (don’t worry joke number and login.) The code runs and returns the message output below, but doesn’t send the text. I’ve enabled less secure apps in my gmail account. Does anyone know what the issue might be?

vtext = “8675309@mymetropcs.com"
message ="test"
msg = """From: %s To: %s %s""" % (username, vtext, message)
server = smtplib.SMTP('smtp.gmail.com', 587)

server.login(username, password)
server.sendmail(username, vtext, msg)
server.quit()
message Output:
(221, b'2.0.0 closing connection c23-v6sm19196700pfn.95 - gsmtp')
