How to create a Messenger ad via Facebook Marketing API
I am trying to create an ad via FB Marketing API, that once the user clicks on the ad, it will open messenger with a pre-defined message (including image). I have managed to create the ad, however I'm struggling to edit the contents of the message.
I have created a campaign, an adset which I use for targeting (includes the messenger as destination), an adcreative and an ad. The payload I’m sending for the adcreative is as follow:
"name": “name",
"object_story_spec":
"instagram_actor_id": “<instagram_id>",
"page_id": “<page_id>",
"link_data":
"call_to_action":
"type": "MESSAGE_PAGE",
"value":
"app_destination": "MESSENGER"
,
"image_hash": “<image_hash>",
"link": “<link>",
"message": “<message>",
"description": “<description>",
"page_welcome_message": [
"message":
"attachment":
"type": "template",
"payload":
"template_type": "generic",
"elements": [
"title": “<title>",
"image_hash": “<image_hash>",
"buttons": [
"type": "web_url",
"url": “<link>",
"title": "View Website"
,
"type": "postback",
"title": "Start Chatting",
"payload": "USER_DEFINED_PAYLOAD"
]
]
,
"quick_replies": [
"content_type": "text",
"title": "Message 2",
"payload": "reply2"
]
,
"user_edit": true
]
,
"access_token": “<access_token>",
"headline": “<headline>",
"url_tags": “<tags>",
"body": “<message_body>"
The ad gets created, there is a button to open messenger but the contents of the message is not right. When I open the ad on Business manager to check the result of the API, it looks like the payload I’ve sent is disregarded. Any ideas?
