Why doesn't tensorboard load the data?

I've loaded and exported my data ready for tensorboard to read (
feature_spec = 'flower_features': tf.FixedLenFeature(shape=
[4], dtype=np.float32)
serving_fn = tf.estimator.export.build_parsing_serving_input_receiver_fn(feature_spec)
classifier.export_savedmodel(export_dir_base = '/Users/$$$$/Desktop/iris_model' + '/export',
serving_input_receiver_fn=serving_fn)
), but, despite the files being present at the source indicated, the files wont be read by tensorboard, with the following error:
No event files found within logdir /tmp/iris_model
when running the tensorboard --inspect.
I'm running tensorboard version 0.1.8. Does that have anything to do with why the data wont load?
