Best way to handle Embeds on an API for PUT/POST
What is the most common way of handling embedded data when you're doing a PUT or POST?
For example on a POST for /api/books/
Is it valid to embed an Author object with or without an Id?
With an Id: It makes the association
Without an Id: It creates the Author object and does the association to the Book
What about for PUT?
With an Id: If any property on the Author object is dirty it updates; although what if the Id is different than the object currently associated to the Book?
Without an Id: Creates a new Author and does the association
or are those invalid and should be done differently?
