sss_override and sssd cache timeout

0

I am using sssd for ldap user and group account lookups and auth. For one account, I use sss_override to override the ldap home directory and shell since that specific user has a unique local machine home directory and environment. Once I restart sssd, the override takes effect and all is good.

It works great, for awhile.

But if I wait an hour or so, the override suddenly stops working and getent passwd shows the LDAP results instead of the override.

If I use "sss_override user-find" it shows the override should still be active. Restarting sssd at that point doesn't help. I have to re-add the override and then restart sssd to get it back!

What is the trick to keeping an override in place long term?

This is on a stock Debian Stretch machine with no additional updates.

Thanks,

XL600
